ELBE and DONAU split hopperbarges
Martens en Van Oord has two split hopper barges of 1,000 m3 (‘Elbe’ and ‘Donau’) with dimensions of 62 x 11 metres. A special loading cover is positioned on each split hopper barge, which can be moved over the split hopper barge along a rail. When dredging in areas where explosives may be present, the risks for the crew on the pontoon and shipping traffic are therefore minimised.
